Nick Ashford Dies in 70
Nick Ashford a well-known songwriter died on Monday (22/8) in a New York Hospital in the age of 70. The legendary songwriter died due to complication related to sore throat cancer.
During his life, Ashford was in the top of success during 1960 and 1970s. He also ever wrote lyrics for big artists such as Aretha Franklin (Cry Like A Baby), The 5th Dimension (California Soul) and Ray Charles (Let’s Go Get Stoned and I Don’t Need No Doctor). His works received a huge attention from Motown Chief, Berry Gordy.
Ashford married to Valerie Simpson in 1974 and together, they make a duo known as Ashford&Simpson. As a time went by, they grew up for popularity and created the well-known hits such as Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “You’re All I Need to Get By,” “Reach Out and Touch (Somebody’s Hand),” “I’m Every Woman,” “Let’s Go Get Stoned,” and “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing.” The duo in 2002 was given big appreciation into the Songwriting Hall of Fame in 2002 with producing sixteen albums from 1973-1996.
